About MARK
Access to quality education remains a challenge for children in rural areas, where limited teaching support, inadequate facilities, and less conducive learning environments hinder academic progress. As a result, students from lower-income households in rural Malaysia’s primary schools often struggle to keep pace, particularly in core subjects such as Mathematics and Science.
Formerly known as Mathematics for Rural Kids, the MARK Programme has been refreshed to expand its focus beyond mathematics into broader STEM subjects. A partnership between Maybank Foundation and Education Development and Solution Specialist, the programme provides structured tuition support in Mathematics and Science, helping to bridge educational gaps among underserved rural students.
By strengthening foundational numeracy and scientific understanding, the programme enhances students’ academic performance while nurturing interest in STEM-related fields. MARK also engages teachers and local communities to foster a supportive learning environment, ensuring long-term educational continuity and sustainable impact.
